And Red Lipstick, a song I never thought I would hear.

It’s hard to miss, but yeah, Rihanna has a new album out. While it’s the length of an EP and sounds pretty rushed, Talk That Talk nonetheless is filled with songs that’ll easily top charts worldwide for the next twelve months.

After which, Rihanna will probably release another album. She’s been doing that consistently for the last five years. But if you pick up her new album and happen to buy the deluxe version, there’s a song on there that was supposed to be on Rated R, but never made the cut.

Until now.

Red Lipstick, produced by Chase & Status, originally found life on their own album More Than A Lot and was called Saxon. Just like they did with Eastern Jam, they gave it to another artist to create their his or her own version. In the case of Saxon, the song went to Nicki Minaj. Who wrote vocals to the song as a demo for Rihanna. And it sounded great.

Fast forward to 2011, and the song ended up on Talk That Talk as a bonus track. But, with different lyrics written bij The-Dream.

But no matter who wrote it. The end result is still great.
